Gastronorm Things To Consider When Selecting

Gastronorm pans are perfect for use in canteens, restaurants and cafes. The Gastronorm is incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide number of catering tasks including cooking, storage, reheating, transportation, blast chilling and presentation. Using a gastronorm helps to reduce cleaning up times as they can be taken straight from the cooker, to the freezer, to the bain marie. There are a wide variety of combinations and permutations making them perfect for many catering applications.

Gastronorm Pan With Handles

Gastronorm with handles for easy handling and carrying. These containers can be used for cooking, storage, reheating, transportation, blast chilling, and presentation, and can be taken straight from the cooker to the freezer and then onto a bains marie when required for use.

Stainless steel gastronorms are of the highest professional quality and are typically manufactured in 18/10 robust stainless steel where the strengthened corners are able to resist damage. They are available in a range of plain or perforated pans and in a variety of depths to suit all your catering demands

Perforated Gastronorm containers are ideal for draining food and cooking, simmering, steaming in a combi-steamer through perforations typically 4 mm in diameter.

Premium quality gastronorm are made of thicker stainless steel with highly polished edges making them ideal for party presentations or top quality self-service. Some gastronorm feature optional non-stick coating. Gastronorm containers are designed to be deeply stacked, which saves space and ensures safety when handling.

Containers take a surprisingly high amount of wear so it is important that you choose units that are well manufactured

The Gastronorm grid system: The basic system model is the 1/1 container (530 x 325 mm). All other sizes such as 2/1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/8, 1/6, 1/9 are divisions or multiplications of this basic size . This allows you to select the system sizes which best suit your requirements.

Gastronorm sizes are standard sizes of containers used in the catering industry specified in the EN 631 standards:

  • GN2/1 : 650 × 530 mm
  • GN1/1 : 530 × 325 mm
  • GN2/3 : 354 × 325 mm
  • GN2/4 : 530 × 162 mm
  • GN1/2 : 325 × 265 mm
  • GN1/3 : 325 × 176 mm
  • GN1/4 : 265 × 163 mm
  • GN1/6 : 176 × 162 mm
  • GN1/9 : 108 × 176 mm

Flat lid: For solid food, typically available in all GN sizes (except 2/1), stackable, optionally with handle cut-out, without cut-out, with spoon cut-out or with cut-out for handles and spoon.

Hinged flat lid

For serving sauces and soup, low temperature loss due to opening on one half of container, available in 3 sizes, with handle cut-outs for safety handles, optionally with handle cut-out, without cut-out, with cut-out for spoon or with cut-out for handles and spoon

Watertight press-in lid

Ideal for safe hygienic transportation of sauces and soups, patented with durable physiologically safe silicone seal, suitable for operation in convectomats

Press In Lid

For potatoes, vegetables or rice, available in all GN sizes (except 2/1 and 2/4), stackable with/without handle cut-outs for safety handles

Flat Lid Transparent

Made of clear, impact-resistant polycarbonate, approved for use with foodstuffs, recessed handle
